رويال جيلي ROYAL JELLY

Respiratory and immune systems are affected by temperature changes, especially during seasonal changes such as fall and throughout winter. During these seasons the main objective is to avoid complications and consequences (colds, flu, hospitalisations, collateral pathologies, etc.). It is therefore important to encourage adequate nutrition and supplementation in order to strengthen our body’s defence system or to avoid the progression of the disease if any.

What is Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly is a food supplement that meets these energy requirements to solve extraordinary situations, and has been shown to contribute to the increase of red blood cells (Morita et al., 2012), optimise the metabolism of sugars (Shidfar et al., 2015) and reduce fatigue by 66% in convalescent individuals (Mofid et al., 2016).

Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly is the queen bee’s only food during her entire life. Royal Jelly is a substance with high nutritional value, containing a unique combination of water (60-70%), proteins (9-18%), carbohydrates (11-23%), lipids (3-8%), amino acids, vitamins and minerals.Propolis

What is the amino acids?

The amino acids present in Royal Jelly amount to 29, from which 10 are essential amino acids for the human body: arginine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine. The 10-Hydroxy- 2-decenoic acid (10-HDA) is one of the most important lipids contained in Royal Jelly and has been shown to intervene in the process of neurogenesis 1,3 (development of the nervous system).Propolis

Royal Jelly types

All types of Royal Jelly -pure, organic or lyophilised– must guarantee the properties of Royal Jelly and that there is no industrial processing or additives.

Pure Royal Jelly refers to the variety extracted and treated directly from the beehive; Bio Royal Jelly is produced in ecologically sustainable fields, where the bees take the nectar; and Lyophilised Royal Jelly is the one containing a high concentration of pure Royal Jelly, where the water is eliminated.

What is Proplis

Propolis is a natural alternative which contributes to strengthening the body’s defence system to cope with infections, especially respiratory infections, as it has been shown to increase defence factors by more than 150 times, as well as to modulate the inflammatory response by raising anti-inflammatory factors 200 times more (Conti et al., 2015). In addition to seasonal peaks, certain special situations like growth, ageing, stress, fatigue, convalescence, etc., require extra energy. Our organism demands the increase of nutrients.Propolis

Propolis is a natural mixture produced by bees obtained from buds, tree sap exudates and other plant sources. The word propolis comes from the Greek: “pro” = in front, “polis” = city, since the function of propolis is to protect the colony, plastering the openings or small holes of the hive, thus protecting bees from outside.Propolis

Propolis composition

Propolis is also part of traditional medicine. Its chemical composition consists of at least 300 compounds, including a high content of phenolic compounds (caffeic, cinnamic acids) and flavonoids (galangin, quercetin), which have demonstrated antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory and modulating activity for the defence system (immune).

The natural supplements that contain propolis are useful during the changes of season (arrival of autumn and winter) in which having a good immune function is essential. Two important factors when choosing a natural supplement with Propolis are:

  1. a minimum flavonoid content of 10% expressed in galangin, guaranteeing European Pharmacopoeia
  2. and high purification that eliminates inactive substances such as wax.

Did you know?

The Bee is one of the animals after which a chapter in the holy Quran is named, even more honeybee is the only animal mentioned in two successive verses and it refers to the healing properties of honey.

“And your Lord inspired the bee: build homes in mountains and trees, and in (the hives) they build for you.”
“Then eat from all the fruits, following the design of your Lord, precisely. From their bellies comes a drink of different colors, wherein there is healing for the people. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who reflect*.”

— Surat An-Nahl 16:68-69
*16:69 Besides its recognized nutritive value, honey has been scientifically proven as a healing medicine for certain allergies and other ailments.

The beehive, source of well-being and inspiration

The history of bees and their products dates back to 13,000 BC. In ancient Egypt there was an incipient apiculture with tracts of land with plants and flowers. Honey was marketed for cosmetic and medicinal use. In ancient Greece there was a system of high status beekeeping, with hives, steaming posts, honey extractors among other apiculture instruments.

How does a beehive work?

beehive can contain up to 80,000 individuals, living in organised communities. A colony is divided into three castes of bees – queen bee, worker bees and drones.

The queen bee is the only sexually developed female. Each colony has only one queen bee whose main purpose is to reproduce. A queen bee is only fed with Royal Jelly, lives 3 to 5 years on average and she may lay as many as 200,000 eggs per year during the first 2 to 3 years of life.

Worker bees are the vast majority of the hive’s population and are responsible for almost all the heavy work required in the hive: protection, building combs, caring for the queen, cleaning, polishing, feeding the young, storing, collecting nectar, pollen and water, chewing the nectar and transforming it into Royal Jelly and honey through enzymes, and so on.

Drone bees are the only male bees in the colony and are a small percentage of the hive’s population. The drone bees job is to mate with the queen bee. Their life period is in spring, during the reproductive season of the colony, living only about three months.
